Products: Most vegetables, from asparagus to zucchini, grown mainly from heirloom seed, Strawberries, Blackberries, Grapes (Table and Muscadine), Figs, Plums, Pears and Persimmons in season. Medicinal herbs and gourmet mushrooms are planned for future cultivation. Filberts, black walnuts and pecans will also be available.
Location: Roxboro, NC
History: Abanitu Farm is owned and operated by Bernard Obie. The farm, located in Roxboro, is 32 acres of mostly woodlands, pasture and meadows, with about 5 acres under cultivation. Obie, a 5th generation farmer, is committed to building a healthy farm eco-system using a no-till approach on re-mineralized, naturally enriched soil. He strictly follows organic cultivation practices, and plans to pursue certification later this year.
Abanitu Farm’s mission is to cultivate food that achieves its genetic potential for nutrition, healing and flavor. Visitation is welcomed, but please contact Obie to arrange a time.
