History: Catbriar Farm is located less than an hour’s drive from Durham, Chapel Hill and Greensboro in scenic Caswell County. Graham and Sara were living in mid-town Atlanta in the spring of 1978 when they bought a tobacco farm of 103 acres. Thirty years later with over 300 acres in garden, pasture, planted pines and hardwood trees, they believe stewardship to the land begins with hard work and dedication.

Over the years they have raised chickens, sheep, goats, and beef cattle. (Oh yes, and two wonderful children – Rebecca and Russell) Graham bales hay for their cattle and to sell to neighbors. The garden has evolved from a family sized plot for freezing and canning to a full-time endeavor for Graham’s retirement.

Graham first came to the Durham Farmer’s Market in 2002 a card table and coolers of asparagus and quickly earned the name “The Asparagus Man”. Gradually more vegetables have been added and they are now bringing a variety of fresh, nutritious choices during the entire market season. Sara is also experimenting with herbs. They are always interested in meeting and talking to customers about their farm!
