Here are some things we need help with:
Where can I buy a baby artichoke? Are all these vendors organic? Where is the bathroom? How do I use my SNAP benefits? How can I become a vendor at the Market? Where is Piedmont restaurant? Can I buy a t-shirt? These are just a few of the questions the volunteers at the Information table answer each Saturday. If you want to learn the inner working of the market, hang out in a beautiful place, and meet a lot of people, this is the job for you.
Skills Required: Excellent customer skills, positive can-do attitude, a great smile, the talent of being courteous at all times, and the ability to remember lots of facts. Written material, maps and weekly updates are provided.
The Chef in the Market series is a long tradition at the Durham Farmers' Market. During the warm months, at least twice a month, fantastic local chefs who support local farmers come to the market and cook! Chef's assistants may help setup, prep food, serve customers, and answer questions. If you'd like to get to know some of our awesome local chefs, give it a try.
Skills Required: Ability to set up large tables and tents, detail oriented, basic cooking skills, love of food & cooking, interest in local agriculture, ease at talking to the public.
