PARKING AND STREET INFORMATION

The market is located at 501 Foster Street in The Pavilion at Durham Central Park. 

Parking can be found on the street around the market, in the parking lot on the corner of Hunt and Foster Street (across from Rise Durham and Urban Durham Realty), in the Ballpark Parking Lot on Corporation Street, and in the Measurement Inc. lot, 423 Morris Street (look for the Durham Farmers' Market parking sign). Handicapped parking is available near the corner of Hunt and Foster as detailed in the map above.

There are also public parking lots along Foster Street and on Morgan Street near the Carolina Theatre.

Please note that the Durham Farmers' Market does not allow dogs or other pets in the market area during market hours. Service animals are exempt from this rule. Leashed pets are welcome elsewhere throughout Durham Central Park.

For 25 years, you have been choosing to shop at the market and support your local growers and crafters.

In that time we’ve grown from a handful of vendors to over 60, we’ve moved from the Old Durham Ball Park parking lot to our wonderful home at @durhamcentralpark , and best of all, we’ve built an incredible community.

Many of you started as shoppers but have become dear friends. We’ve watched market kids grow up, seen vendors start their businesses and then pass it off to their children, and endured some difficult times where the future of the market seemed uncertain.

PIEDMONT MICROGREENS

Piedmont Microgreens is an indoor farm located just four miles from the farmer's market! We specialize in microgreens, which are the youngest stage of vegetable crops. Microgreens are great because they're beautiful, tasty, and packed with nutrients. We will be bringing the following microgreens to the market: sunflower shoots, pea shoots, nutrition mix, salad mix, a farmer's choice, and a few specialty varieties, like cilantro, dill, and onion! The nutrition mix is a blend of broccoli, cabbage, and kohlrabi microgreens, while the salad mix is a blend of sunflower shoots, buckwheat, and kale microgreens. The farmer's choice will be a revolving blend of what inspires us each week.

RABBIT PATCH BASKETS

Eva Green is a fourth generation basket weaver. Eva was skillfully taught the art of basket weaving by her mother, Nadine Degraffenreaidt.

Hand weaving baskets is Eva’s biggest passion.  She really enjoys making intricate baskets. Weaving baskets with designs that are difficult to achieve provides a rewarding challenge for her. Eva uses berries, nuts, flowers, vegetables, and anything that will make a stain to dye the reed for her baskets. 

She has been awarded numerous ribbons for baskets and teaches locally at different community colleges.

HURTGEN MEADOWS

Hurtgen Meadows will be at the Wednesday and Saturday markets this week with our pesticide-free naturally grown strawberries!  You can pre-order them for pickup at the Saturday market on our website Tuesday at 8 p.m. through Thursday at 8 p.m. (www.hurtgenmeadows.com/order).

This week we will have more plant starts for your gardens including tomatoes and peppers (sweet and hot), cucumbers, eggplant, arugula, chard, kale, lettuce, blackberries, flowers and a selection of herbs -- dill, cilantro, chives, oregano, curled parsley, Italian flat parsley, peppermint, spearmint, sage, and thyme.  The plants we sell are the plants we grow!  

We'll also have arugula, lettuce, spring onions, chard, kale, red cabbage, sweet potatoes, jams and eggs for your weekly menus.  We continue to accept returns of your glass jam jars.

CHAPEL HLL CREAMERY

FARMHOUSE CHEESE: Yes! We are now making our Fresh Mozzarella cheese for Saturday. We will have the half pound balls packed in water to keep them soft and tender. Fresh Mozzarella is best eaten within 3-4 days although ours will last longer. Slice for Caprese salad, tear into pieces for a pizza, or chop into a mixed green salad. You will see the golden color of the milk that comes from the grass our cows are grazing in both Fresh Mozzarella and Dairyland Farmers cheese which are made weekly and not aged.

Other cheeses are savory Hickory Grove, tangy Dairyland Farmers’ Cheese, rich Carolina Moon, Hot Farmers, and aged Calvander. We hope to have some Dill Farmers and New Moons as well.. Our cheeses are great for snacking with crackers or fruit, and most are easy to add to dishes like frittatas, burritos, gratins, or mushroom crostini. Add Farmers to a spinach salad with sliced strawberries. We’re happy to give suggestions, and thanks for supporting the market.

You may be wondering exactly what that is... well, Ancestral method or Petillant Naturel is the most pure method of making sparkling wine, pre-dating even the champagne method.
