PARKING AND STREET INFORMATION

The market is located at 501 Foster Street in The Pavilion at Durham Central Park. 

Parking can be found on the street around the market, in the parking lot on the corner of Hunt and Foster Street (across from Rise Durham and Urban Durham Realty), in the Ballpark Parking Lot on Corporation Street, and in the Measurement Inc. lot, 423 Morris Street (look for the Durham Farmers' Market parking sign). Handicapped parking is available near the corner of Hunt and Foster as detailed in the map above.

There are also public parking lots along Foster Street and on Morgan Street near the Carolina Theatre.

Please note that the Durham Farmers' Market does not allow dogs or other pets in the market area during market hours. Service animals are exempt from this rule. Leashed pets are welcome elsewhere throughout Durham Central Park.

We'll be offering a family-style menu, created by Chef Trenton Shank of Plum and prepared by Chef Trenton and Chef David Lopez from Atomic Clock, full of seasonal, locally-raised and grown ingredients, with full-course vegetarian and vegan options and a drink list from Botanist and Barrel and LouElla. 

All funds raised from the dinner will go to support the projects central to our market's mission to serve our famers and local Durham community, including Sprouts Club, Double Bucks, and educational programming.

LAKAY FARM

LaKay is a poultry farm located in Louisburg, North Carolina. Dulime and Myrlande are Haitian farmers going back to their roots, growing fresh vegetables and fruits while raising registered Nubian and Nigerian Dwarf goats holistically. Tender, certified organic SUMMER vegetables have arrived!   The last of the swiss chard, curly kale, and texas onions... all in the solar-powered tunnel greenhouses.. are winding down in production in the heat.   Mario and his helper put shade covers on the tunnels this week ... to hopefully keep the vegetables producing in this excessive heat.  We desperately need rain... just so hot and dry on many of the crops.. including pastures. 

The new large spring/summer cut flower bouquets are really gorgeous:  sunflowers, delphinium, snap dragons, poppies, hydrangeas and more.  Mario and his family are laying the drip tape now on many crops to keep them watered... a long tedious process.

Based on the Haw River in Saxapahaw, By The Brook crafts seasonal sauerkrauts, hot sauces, condiments, and tempeh (a highly digestible plant protein made from beans). Our goal is to funk up your table with flavor: specifically, the unique flavors that result from the astonishing process of fermentation.

CHAPEL HILL CREAMERY

Here's a picture of Candy with her newborn who arrived Sunday morning. Enjoy Fresh Mozzarella and our fresh Dairyland Farmers cheese with tomatoes. Use in salads or for cooking. We're happy to give serving suggestions. 

Other cheeses include an experimental grating cheese, savory Hickory Grove, Hot Farmers, Dill Farmers, aged Calvander, and hopefully some New Moon will be ready. The grating cheese has been aged almost 10 months. It is firmer than our Calvander with a stronger flavor; add it to frittata, tomato pie, cooked greens, or pasta with squash and mushrooms. Our herd is still enjoying our new perennial pasture and the cows are Animal Welfare Approved. Thanks for supporting the market!

Many of you have heard, farmer Sunshine is heading out on a research trip around the country this summer.  Our team, Marty & Lindsey, will be taking care of the farm and apothecary in her absence and bringing you veggies, herbs and botanical products EVERY OTHER WEEK this summer.  Our schedule will be as follows:

STONEY MOUNTAIN FARM

Stoney Mountain Farm raises their lambs the old fashioned way, allowing their sheep to graze open pastures. They are passionate about animal welfare and sustainability, and strive to be good stewards of the land. Their grazing system helps to keep the sheep on fresh grass year-round while helping to keep the soil healthy. 

Olga and John raise Navajo Churro sheep, which Slow Food named to it’s Ark of Taste based on the valuable traits of the breed. About Boxcarr: We take inspiration from small Italian farmstead creameries. Our local milk is sourced from a few small family-owned dairies who raise their cows with the greatest of care and highest standards. Milk from our own loved herd of mixed-breed dairy goats is also part of the mix! In addition to supporting these small dairy businesses, we employ a handful of locals, teach through internships, and employ youth through Orange County Second Family Foundation.

We distribute our artisan cheeses nationally, while also selling locally to restaurants, shops, and directly to shoppers at the Durham Farmers Market.

It’s almost time for cold noodles!

Have this easy kimchi bibimguksu (kimchi mixed cold noodles) recipe (https://bit.ly/4bLfxvM)  in your repertoire β€” all you need is sauce, kimchi, and noodles β€” and add other veggies to change it up. Cucumbers are standard here, but you could also add avocado or marinated tofu. Tomatoes might be fun too! Either way, make it your own with our kimchi.
