PARKING AND STREET INFORMATION

The market is located at 501 Foster Street in The Pavilion at Durham Central Park. 

Parking can be found on the street around the market, in the parking lot on the corner of Hunt and Foster Street (across from Rise Durham and Urban Durham Realty), in the Ballpark Parking Lot on Corporation Street, and in the Measurement Inc. lot, 423 Morris Street (look for the Durham Farmers' Market parking sign). Handicapped parking is available near the corner of Hunt and Foster as detailed in the map above.

There are also public parking lots along Foster Street and on Morgan Street near the Carolina Theatre. 

ANIMAL POLICY

Please note that the Durham Farmers' Market does not allow dogs or other pets in the market area during market hours. Service animals are exempt from this rule. Leashed pets are welcome elsewhere throughout Durham Central Park.

BLUEBIRD MEADOWS

Stuart and Alice White love the environment and choose to farm sustainably, with as minimal an impact on the environment as possible. They do not use synthetic fertilizers or chemicals. Instead, they use lots of compost (worm castings are considered β€˜black gold’ among farming enthusiasts), leaf mulch, and cover crops to keep their soil healthy and their biodiversity up. They also hope to incorporate aspects of permaculture on their farm, creating a healthy, closed system with as little outsourcing for material and soil amendments as possible.

BULL CITY FARM

Bull City Farm is a family owned and operated farm in Northern Durham Co. We raise all our livestock outside on pasture and feed only non-GMO feeds. HARLAND’S CREEK FARM

About: Harland's Creek Farm is committed to the health of the earth and its people. Water and soil, sun and warmth, seeds, animals, and plants-the essential ingredients-combined with work and planning allow us to feed people.

Judy, Erasmo and Rene have 5 acres under production and are divided into three plots that have been opened successively over time since 2001. They grow our own transplants. Soil amendments include compost, feather meal, rock phosphate, sulfate of potash, bone meal, lime, or manure. Mulching and cover crops are used to build the soil. Pest management includes 6-8 foot fences to keep deer out, row-covers and flash tape to deter birds and rabbits, and occasionally we use OMRI approved substances for control of pests. Post-harvest handling consists of cold storage in an on farm walk in cooler. Flowers are conditioned using either Vita Products, Inc. or their own on farm mixture using substances that are compliant with the National Organic Program Standards.

With 25 years of experience working with LSG Sky Chefs (a worldwide in-flight catering company), Chef Eric is now offering his ample talents to tend to the palates of all food lovers, right in the heart of their home.

In addition to fine traditional American entrees, healthy salads & sandwiches, breakfasts and bakery treats, his menus offer various international flavors infused with French & West African flairs.

Martha has always had a passion for Mexican food and culture and her graphic design background made her the perfect partner to join Maria in creating Cilantro Artisan Foods.

THE SPICY HERMIT


The Spicy Hermit makes delicious varieties of gluten-free, vegan, and preservative-free kimchi, using local produce from neighboring farms (some of them at the market!).  Kimchi is a traditional Korean fermented dish, usually made with cabbages, though we like to experiment and use other seasonal, local vegetables, such as collard greens or kohlrabi.

This week’s recipe is kimchi potato salad, a recipe from Caroline Choe’s new cookbook, Banchan. You can find a video demo of her recipe at Good Morning America: https://bit.ly/48tOGEm Also, a customer favorite is back: kohlrabi carrot is now available!

We’ll bring these kimchi varieties:

GREENS- Napa, green cabbage, collard greens, bok choy, mustard greens

We will be attending the pre-Thanksgiving Market on Tuesday, November 26 from 2 pm to 5 pm for your last minute holiday menu needs and to carry you through to the next market on December 7!

Produce available on Tuesday: New this week: carrots and lettuce, along with collards, kalette greens, Brussels sprouts greens, chard, kale, watermelon radishes, sweet potatoes, fall squash, lunchbox, bell and hot peppers, potatoes, onions, eggs and jam. As always, we will happily accept returns of your glass jam jars.
